Artist
Wolfgang Schwabpaur (1659–1749) was a Franciscan Conventual (Minorite) associated with Vienna. Modern cataloguing describes him as both organist and apothecary at the Viennese Minoritenkloster, and scholarship links him to an important keyboard manuscript dated 1683 (A-Wm XIV.713, “Wien 713”), reported to have been compiled in Munich and later connected with the Vienna Franciscan context. His surviving profile today is chiefly that of a composer of short liturgical organ pieces, including works transmitted in modern selections such as Wiener Orgelmusik um 1700, where music attributed to him appears under titles like “Pro elevatione” and related Elevation movements.
