Franz Xaver Schreiner is a little-documented name attached to Tyrolean keyboard music from around 1700. In modern sources he appears chiefly through a single attributed piece, a Fuga in C, preserved in the region’s manuscript tradition and published in contemporary editions of Tastenmusik um 1700 aus Tiroler Quellen. His music also turns up in modern performance projects drawn from the Essack-Handschrift, a major Tyrolean source for organ and keyboard repertory—most notably on Peter Waldner’s Manualiter recordings, where a “Fuga” is credited to Schreiner. Beyond these attributions, Schreiner’s biography and exact identity remain unconfirmed in accessible authority references.
