The band formed in Dublin in 2005 and consists of Karen McCartney (vocals, guitar), John Hanley (drums), and David Grealy (guitar). Wayne Gibson later joined as bassist. The band released a series of singles in 2006, followed by the album Who Are These People? and the EP Analogue Droids. Cowboy X were active until around 2010 and began releasing new material again from 2025 onwards.
