Tate Rosner McRae (born 1 July 2003) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and dancer. She first gained recognition as a contestant on the American reality television series "So You Think You Can Dance" in 2016, where she placed third, becoming the highest-placing Canadian in the show's history. McRae later signed with RCA Records and gained early attention for her extended plays "All the Things I Never Said" (2020) and "Too Young to Be Sad" (2021), with the latter becoming the most streamed female EP of 2021 on Spotify. Its lead single, "You Broke Me First", became her first entry on the US Billboard Hot 100. Born in Calgary, Alberta, McRae moved with her family to Oman at age two due to her father’s work and lived there for three years, attending The American International School Muscat. She began recreational dance training at age six, and upon returning to Calgary at age eight, she trained more intensively, competing with Drewitz Dance Productions. From age 11, she trained in multiple dance styles at YYC Dance Project, a company owned by her mother, and studied ballet at the School of Alberta Ballet. She graduated from Western Canada High School online in 2021. McRae achieved several accolades in dance before her music career. She won Mini Best Female Dancer at the 2013 Dance Awards and later awards in the Junior and Teen categories, becoming the first dancer in the competition's history to win across all three levels.
