Album
"I Used to Think I Could Fly" is the debut studio album by Canadian singer and dancer Tate McRae, released on 27 May 2022 through RCA Records. The album was preceded by the singles "Feel Like Shit", "She's All I Wanna Be", "Chaotic", and "What Would You Do?". McRae supported the release with a tour beginning in June 2022. Musically, the album has been described as pop, dance-pop, and bedroom pop. It received generally positive reviews from critics and achieved commercial success, entering the top 10 in several countries and debuting at number thirteen on the US Billboard 200. McRae stated that she drew inspiration from albums such as Frank Ocean's "Blonde" (2016), Billie Eilish's "When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?" (2019), and the Weeknd's "After Hours" (2020) when structuring her own album. She described many of the songs as personal diary entries, often written during emotionally difficult moments. McRae finalised the track listing on 8 March 2022, revealing the album title and cover on 1 April 2022. The album was initially planned with 12 tracks, but the inclusion of "What's Your Problem?" brought the total to 13 tracks when the official listing was announced on 11 April 2022. Critics praised the album for its production, lyrical content, McRae's vocal performance, and thematic maturity. On Metacritic, the album holds a score of 75 out of 100, indicating generally favorable reviews. Ims Taylor of DIY highlighted McRae’s emotional expressiveness and "lush" vocals,
