"So Close to What" is the third studio album by Canadian singer Tate McRae, released on 21 February 2025 through RCA Records. McRae co-wrote the album with several collaborators, including producers Ryan Tedder, Blake Slatkin, Lostboy, Emile Haynie, Ilya, and Rob Bisel. The album features a blend of pop, dance-pop, power pop, and R&B styles. The album was preceded by the singles "It's OK I'm OK", "2 Hands", and "Sports Car", while "Revolving Door" was released alongside the album. A deluxe edition, titled "So Close to What???", was released on 21 November 2025, featuring the US Billboard Hot 100 top-five single "Tit for Tat". "So Close to What" received generally positive reviews from music critics. It reached number one on record charts in Australia, Austria, Canada, Flanders, Ireland, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Switzerland, and the United States, marking McRae’s first album to debut at number one on the US Billboard 200. To promote the album, McRae embarked on the Miss Possessive Tour, her first arena tour. Following her second studio album, "Think Later" (2023), McRae continued touring and returned to the recording studio in January 2024. She confirmed in March 2024 that she had resumed writing new material while continuing the first leg of her 2024 Think Later World Tour. The album was announced on 14 November 2024 via social media.
