Artist
Sebastian Ochsenkun, also Sebastian Ochsenkhun (born 6. February 1521 in Nuremberg; died 20. August 1574 in Heidelberg), was a German luteist and composer. Sebastian was the son of the Nuremberg instrument maker and barber Jörg Ochsenkun. He was a lute player with the Palatinate Count Ottheinrich zu Pfalz-Neuburg and went to the Kurpfälzisches Hof in Heidelberg in 1544 as a lute master. In 1556, at the time Ottheinrich took office in Heidelberg, Ochsenkun published a song and motet collection of tablature book on the sounds (German lute tablature), which was published in Heidelberg in 1558 and contains adaptations of foreign compositions in addition to his own works. Sebastian's Ochsenkun's sons Friedrich and Christoph Hartmann were students of Heidelberg University.
