Artist
Gregor Lange (ca.1540 — 1 May 1587), although highly appreciated in German musical life of the 2nd half of the 16th century, after his mysterious illness and sudden death became a virtually absent figure in the history of music. This composer, born in a small town Havelberg in Saxony, developed his career in significant Protestant centers. Firstly, he stayed in Frankfurt am Oder, where he studied and led church musical ensemble, and next in Wrocław, where he moved thanks to contacts with influential citizens. Although the composer died early, he left a significant oeuvre, containing both Latin motets and German Protestant songs.
