Marcià Albereda, (Vic, ¿? - Barcelona, c. August 21, 1673) was a Catalan composer and master of Baroque chapel. He exercised the chapel magisteriums of the cathedrals of La Seo de Urgel and Barcelona. Although there is no documentary certainty about his place of birth, several authors place him in Vic since a documentary note in the Cathedral of Barcelona makes him originally from the diocese of Vic. It is known that he was a singer boy, or altar boy, of the Cathedral of Barcelona, where he was a disciple of Juan Pujol until 1616. From January 8, 1622 to 1626 he was master of the chapel of the cathedral of the Seo de Urgel. On July 24, 1626, he won the place in the cathedral of Barcelona, where he succeeded his teacher Juan Pujol, who had died on May 17 of that same year. Although he initially maintained good relations with the cathedral council, over time they worsened and the council, which were restricting his external activities, such as his work for the Generalitat, which allowed him additional income. He was also prohibited from introducing novelties at masses. That position was maintained until his death, when Miguel Selma succeeded him on an interim basis and later, officially, Luis Vicente Gargallo. Benet Buscarons was his disciple.
