Album
Wasteland is the second full length release of Vortech and it was released on 23 September 2007. The album is also the first Vortech release to feature additional personnel: Matti Särkimäki joined in to do the majority of the vocals on the album, and Lukas Pearsall contributed vocals to the song The Core. All songs were composed by Juha Untinen, who also recorded all instruments. The story of the album is based on a world of political schemes, global wars escalating to nuclear level, and the subsequent demise of all life. The songs contain some of the fastest passages released by Vortech, going up to 258 bpm and making the album decisively more Death Metal oriented than Conclusion (2006). After the artwork direction was set on the previous album, Wasteland also features artwork that ties in strongly to the lyrics of the album, depicting scenes starting from a nuclear explosion and ending with a desolate ruin. The production of the album is more traditional compared to Conclusion with much bigger emphasis on the pounding drums and interlocking guitars, with prominent synthesizer lines. 103 copies of the album have been manufactured in CD form.
