Devoid of Life is the fifth full length album by Vortech, and was originally released as a digital album on 7 April 2012, and a physical CD was released on 3 October 2012. The album is a concept of a world at war with three factions fighting each other: virus-infected humans, remnant humans, and sentient machines. The music reflects this situation and is very dark in tone, with machine-like precision and gritty steampunk aesthetic, where the atmosphere is an important factor. Originally composed in 2009 and recorded in 2010, but released much later due to lineup changes. The album was going to feature a drum machine, until Ville Miinala joined the band as a drummer, and thus the album is the first Vortech release to feature real drums.
