"Bedtime Stories" is the sixth studio album by American singer Madonna, released on October 24, 1994, by Maverick Records and Sire Records. In 1992, Madonna released her fifth studio album "Erotica", the book "Sex", and starred in the film "Body of Evidence". The sexually explicit nature of these projects generated significant controversy and mixed to negative reactions from critics and sections of the public. In response, Madonna sought to present a more restrained image. Her first release in this direction was the ballad "I'll Remember" from the soundtrack to the 1994 film "With Honors", which received positive critical attention and reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100. For "Bedtime Stories", Madonna incorporated elements of R&B and collaborated with producers including Babyface, Dallas Austin, and Dave Hall. She also drew inspiration from the British club scene, where genres such as dub were gaining popularity, and worked with producer Nellee Hooper. The album is primarily a pop record with hip hop and R&B influences, and its lyrics focus on themes of love and romance with a comparatively subdued tone.
