Artist
shira e. (shira erlichman) is a poet and musician based in Massachusetts. Known for her raw grit and vocal energy, she has been writing and performing music for over a decade. She is associated with the independent venue and record label, The Whitehaus Family Record in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, and the yes-wave movement. She has been involved in countless projects, including the campfire-orchestra "The Tiny Tornadoes" (2005), sugar-heaven girl-group "The Popsicles" (2006), "Crush Cloud" with cellist Emily Thomas (2007), dance-soul-folk troupe "The Bright Hearts Brigade" (2008) comprised of viola, cello, a ten person choir, and shira e. on vocals, and her current project, "The Sandcastles" - a pop-duo with brother Shai Erlichman "to rival Donny and Marie." shira e. is unsigned, and so far has released her CDs independently, on self-started all-inclusive label "Make Records." Discography includes 3 solo CDs, "Happy Cus the World Revolves" (2003), "Elephant Waltz" (2006), and "We Are Our Greatest Heroes" (2007). Influences include 50s & 60s girl groups (The Dixie Cups, Lulu, The Shangri-Las), the Whitehaus Family, Diane Cluck, Elliott Smith, The Beatles, Lake, Bjork, Jose Gonzalez and Boy Without God.
