Vasiliki Papathanasiou (born 23 August 1949), known professionally as Vicky Leandros, is a Greek-born German singer. She is the daughter of singer, musician, and composer Leandros Papathanasiou, also known as Leo Leandros and Mario Panas. In 1967, she gained international recognition after representing Luxembourg in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "L'amour est bleu", which placed fourth and became a commercial success. She further advanced her career by winning the Eurovision Song Contest in 1972 with the song "Après toi", again representing Luxembourg. On 15 October 2006, Leandros was elected town councillor of Piraeus, Greece, on the PASOK list, with responsibilities relating to the cultural and international development of the city. She also served as Deputy Mayor of Piraeus. In June 2008, she announced her resignation from political office, citing the difficulty of balancing her political responsibilities with her singing career.
