Katja Ebstein (born Karin Witkiewicz; 9 March 1945) is a German singer. She was born in Girlachsdorf, now Gniewków in Poland, and became known for songs including "Theater" and "Es war einmal ein Jäger". She was married to composer Christian Bruhn, who wrote many of her songs. Ebstein represented Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest on three occasions, in 1970, 1971, and 1980. She also participated in the national selection "Ein Lied für Stockholm" in 1975 with the song "Ich liebe dich", finishing fifth. Her highest placement in the international contest came in 1980, when she achieved second place with "Theater". Her earlier entries, "Wunder gibt es immer wieder" and "Diese Welt", each placed third. According to published accounts of the contest’s history, she is regarded as one of its most successful participants without a victory and has been noted for achieving three top-three finishes without winning.
