Artist
Having enjoyed considerable indie rock success in Go Back To The Zoo, Amsterdam-based, Dutch musician, songwriter and singer, Lars Kroon (1986) launched a solo career with his project, Lars and the Magic Mountain. He released an album (2020's Everything Looks Good From Here) and formed a touring band, but his plans were undermined by the Covid-19 pandemic. Making the most out of the situation, Kroon changed the name of the band into Toverberg, which may be regarded as a bit more of a solo project than Lars and the Magic Mountain was. 2021 saw the release of Happy Life (2021), an album with more of an indie rock/ 'bedroom pop' DIY feel than its predecessor. All 'Magic Mountain' recordings are now listed under Toverberg on streaming platforms. February 2023 saw the release of the soft-voiced album Tranen in de Wind, on which Toverberg surprisingly shifts to singing in Dutch, a dreamy blend of poetry with many a nod to the great Dutch novelist, Gerard Reve. The third Toverberg album, De Rusteloze Materie, followed in March 2024, after which Kroon decided to carry on under his real name: Lars Kroon.
