Band broke up, so all these words are already history ... Why These Hands Are Fists came to life? Well, it's not a long story. The Portuguese HC Scene was unrecognizable. What we used to have and what we started having. Politics and social subjects were being traded by personal unmeaning lyrics and by fashion sneakers, T-Shirts, PINs and records. No one would talk anymore, no one do anything except playing music. Zines were gone, debates and change of ideas were just traces of the past. No one would care anymore about the Roots and the DIY ethics. As time moved on, a group of friends decided it was more than time to shake things up a little, to put some salt in the wound and to bring back the spirit, make it come to life and to write some heavy political lyrics so that people could be aware that the oppressed needed a voice to speak on behalf of them. People had to woke up! At first we made clear to eachother that this band would always stand up for justice and solidarity, for compassion and love. We decided we would not put as a priority our personal problems in front of all the mess and misery the world was in at the moment, after all, this was about the message to the masses, to ignite revolution in people's hearts, both outside and inside. After defining the goals, this was the outcome, fast songs, melodic guitars with no style to follow of whatsoever, screamed vocals and one consistent uncompromising message: Human, Earth and Animal Liberation.
