Day of the Dead is a hardcore band from Portugal. Day Of The Dead was formed in May 2001, as a weapon to express our personal feelings and beliefs. DOTD's main purpose is to fight against all the apathy that is poisoning today's punk/hardcore scene. Sharing different seeds of discontentment about several issues related to the realities of our lives, DOTD tries to instigate reflection and discussion. DOTD's existence upholds five different subversive mentalities that try to express their views on concepts that (in our point of view), are slowly fading in present times, either in a socio-political, or in a personal view. DOTD does not try to fit in... DOTD is not just about riffs or agressive music. DOTD is a quest... A quest for a better and fulfilling existance. It's about a search for the real essence and meaning of Life. DOTD is our truest, deepest and most sincere way to pursue a better life. Through a conscious lifestyle, DOTD tries to abolish the empty and superfluous ideas/assets that infest the standard ways of living. DOTD abhors all forms of excesses... from the excesses of control, oppression or cruelty, to the excesses of restrictions in our everyday life. We try not to consume or depend on death. We want to take control of our own lives. We want to liberate ourselves from the chains of industrialization, capitalism, right wing politics, racism...
