The Creyola Thief Genius were a Rock band formed in mid 2005 in Suffolk, UK. Consisting of Leah Kurta (Vocals) Joel Kurta (Drums), Chesney Jefferson (Bass) and Jo Surzyn (Guitar). They produced their first and only E.P. 'When Dinosaurs Become Extinct' in July 2006 as a prize for winning the 'Colchester Arts Center Battle of the Bands' where they played an exciting brand of Ethereal, Funky, Thrash - Pop. Drawing largely from the bands the members had been in previously - Ches Jefferson from the hardcore 'All or None', Leah and Joel from 'Soma' and Joel and Jo of cult Ipswich Bluespop trio 'Making Eyes at Elvis' the band played with a style and sound that went down well in the local scene. The band continued gigging until late 2006 before dissolving. Joel going on to play with new band 'Black Harrison' and Ches going in a new, electronic musical direction.
