Silbermond ("silver moon") is a German pop rock band from Bautzen, Saxony, consisting of Stefanie Kloß, Andreas Nowak, and brothers Johannes and Thomas Stolle. The band members met in 1998 while participating in the music project Ten Sing. In 2000, they formed their own group and performed locally under the name JAST, derived from the initials of the members. In 2001, they changed their name to Silbermond and began focusing on songs in German. In January 2004, Silbermond performed as the opening act for singer Jeanette Biedermann. They released their first single "Mach's dir selbst" followed by their debut album "Verschwende deine Zeit", which was certified 7× gold and platinum in Germany and Austria. The album included three additional singles, including their first top-five hit "Symphonie". At the end of 2004, the band went on tour and in April 2005 released their first concert DVD, "Verschwende deine Zeit – Live", which achieved gold status. In 2005, Silbermond performed at the Berlin installment of Live 8, appearing in the lineup between Green Day and Chris De Burgh. In April 2006, the band released their second album "Laut gedacht", which debuted at number one on the German and Austrian album charts. The lead single, "Unendlich", reached the top ten, while the third single, "Das Beste", became their first number-one single.
