Revolverheld (German for "gunslinger") is a German rock band from Hamburg. The group was originally formed in 2002 under the name Manga, later changed to "Tsunamikiller" in 2004, and eventually adopted the name Revolverheld following the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake. The band began their career as a supporting act for Donots, Silbermond, and Udo Lindenberg. They gained wider recognition with the song "Rock n' Roll", which led to their participation in a coaching program at the Pop-Academy Baden-Württemberg. In 2004, Revolverheld signed with Sony BMG. Their first single, "Generation Rock", was released in June 2005 and entered the German charts. The song was also included in the video game "Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock". Their debut album, "Revolverheld", was produced with Clemens Matznick and released in September 2005. On 7 July 2007, Revolverheld performed at the German leg of Live Earth in Hamburg. The band recorded "Helden 2008" as a dedication to UEFA Euro 2008. The single included a music video featuring the band members as team members and performing in locker room scenes, and it became the 34th best-selling song in Germany in 2008. On 30 November 2012, Revolverheld announced that Florian Speer had left the band and was replaced by Chris Rodriguez.
