Johannes Oerding (born 26 December 1981 in Münster) is a German pop singer and songwriter. Oerding was born in Münster in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia and grew up in Geldern-Kapellen on the Lower Rhine with two brothers and two sisters. His father worked as a general practitioner and was also involved in local historical research and the scouting movement, receiving the Federal Cross of Merit for his civic engagement. Oerding attended the Friedrich-Spee-Gymnasium in Geldern, where he completed his Abitur. During his school years he achieved his first musical experience as a member of the student band Groovekeller, which he co-founded. He gained wider recognition in 2009 after performing as a support act on tours by Simply Red and Ich + Ich. In August 2009 he released his debut solo album "Erste Wahl", which reached number 39 on the German Albums Chart. His second album, "Boxer", followed in 2011, and his third album, "Für immer ab jetzt", was released in 2013. In September 2013, Oerding represented Hamburg at the "Bundesvision Song Contest 2013" with the song "Nichts geht mehr", finishing in second place. Earlier that year he had performed the song on the television programme "Inas Nacht", and the recording later appeared on the bonus CD "Inas kleine Nachtmusik", released with Ina Müller's album "Ich bin die". In 2013 he also performed as a support act on Joe Cocker’s "Fire It Up Tour", and in 2014 he appeared as a guest on the "MTV Unplugged" tour by the Sco
