Artist
Sławomir Kupczak (born 2nd May, 1979 in Wrocław) is a Polish composer of academic computer music. He studied composition under the tutelage of Jan Wichrowski and computer composition under Cezary Duchnowski at the Musical Academy in Wrocław. He perfected his skills in post-graduate studies in Stanisław Krupowicz’s composition class and Cezary Duchnowski’s computer composition class. He also participated in international courses for young composers held in Radziejowice (2000), Gdańsk (2001), and Canterbury, UK (2006). In the 2002-2003 academic year he was granted a scholarship by the Minister of Culture, in 2005 by the Warsaw Autumn Friends' Foundation, and in 2007 by the ZAIKS Authors' Association. In 2006, he got 2nd place at the 48th Tadeusz Baird Competition for Young Composers in Warsaw for Anaphora VII – Lament for female vocalist cello, piano, and tape. That same year his piece entitled Anaphora VI for string quartet and electronics finished 4th at the 53rd UNESCO International Rostrum of Composers in Paris in the young composers' category. Sławomir Kupczak's compositions have been presented on the radio and performed at many concerts and contemporary music festivals in Poland and abroad, such as at the Youth Circle of Polish Composers Union during Warsaw Autumn, Polish Composers’ Union’s Wrocław Branch Concert during Warsaw Autumn, Concours Nicati in 2003 in Switzerland, Musica Polonica Nova and Musica Electronica Nova in Wrocław, Audio Art in Warsaw, the 11th Siles
