Ruth Lorenzo (born 10 November 1982) is a Spanish singer from Murcia, Spain. Lorenzo is notable for coming fifth in the fifth series of the British version of TV talent show The X Factor in 2008. This was the year which saw Alexandra Burke win. Lorenzo's performance of "Purple Rain" (Prince) in the show went on to reach over one million views via YouTube in less than one week before it was removed. In 2014, Lorenzo expressed interest in the Eurovision Song Contest and submitted a self penned track entitled "Dancing in the Rain." Ruth went on to take part in the 2014 Spanish National Final and received the highest number of public votes. Lorenzo represented Spain in Copenhagen in May 2014 and the song scored 74 points for Spain, finishing in 10th place out of 37 countries. Lorenzo joins Spanish singer Pastora Soler in being the two most successful Spanish entrants in Eurovision within the last 15 years (2004). Lorenzo's highly anticipated debut album "Planeta Azul (Blue Planet)" was released on 27 October 2014. The collection spawned two radio hits 'Gigantes' and 'Renuncio' On 16 October 2015, a special re-issue of her debut album Planeta Azul was released, which includes new tracks and songs she had recorded previously in English language. One of the new tracks, titled "99", was released as a single, this was followed by ''Echo'' On 30 July 2015, Lorenzo was announced to join the cast of the fourth season of television show Tu Cara Me Suena (Your Face Sounds Familiar
