Power From Hell is a Brazilian black metal/thrash metal band formed in Guarulhos, São Paulo in 2001. Power From Hell is a Brazilian extreme metal band, formed as a solo project by Aron "Sodomic" Romero around 2001, officially becoming a full band in 2002 in Guarulhos, São Paulo. The initial concept was a tribute to the 80s metal scene, inspired by bands such as Bathory, Onslaught, Bulldozer, Venom, and Hellhammer. The band began by playing only covers, but soon Sodomic started composing original songs, leading to the release of the debut album, The True Metal (2004). ORIGINS AND EARLY YEARS The band’s name was chosen as a homage to Onslaught’s 1985 album Power From Hell, reflecting their raw and direct approach. From the outset, Power From Hell adopted a primitive and DIY recording style. Their debut album was recorded on a 1970s answering machine, reinforcing its harsh and aggressive sound. Their second album, Sadismo (2007), was recorded on an old cassette tape recorder, maintaining the lo-fi aesthetic. The title was intentionally kept similar to the English word “Sadism” for easier global recognition. Their third album, Spellbondage (2009), followed the same sonic direction, solidifying the band’s sexually charged and anti-Christian themes. It also featured a Bathory medley, paying tribute to one of their greatest influences.
