Album
Lust and Violence is the fourth studio album by the Brazilian band Power From Hell, originally released in 2011. The record maintains the essence of old-school black/thrash metal while introducing the first signs of a significant sonic shift that would become more evident in the band's later works, particularly Profound Evil Presence (2019) and Shadows Devouring Light (2022). While still heavily influenced by thrash metal and the first wave of black metal, the album exhibits a slightly refined production, resulting in a sound that, while still raw, is less gritty compared to its predecessors. SOUND AND INFLUENCES: Unlike previous releases, Lust and Violence showcases a transition in Power From Hell’s sonic identity. Earlier albums such as The True Metal (2004), Sadismo (2007), and Spellbondage (2009) were defined by a raw, lo-fi approach, whereas this record reflects an effort to enhance production quality and introduce a slight modernization, though without completely abandoning its old-school aesthetic. The album’s sound continues to draw inspiration from Venom, Motörhead, and Bathory, maintaining a straightforward and aggressive approach while offering greater instrumental clarity. The atmosphere remains dark and violent, staying true to the band's traditional themes of Satanism, lust, and perversion. TRACKLIST: 1. Black Angel – 4:53 2. The Old Masters (Death Metal) – 3:55 3.
