Born near Eindhoven in the Netherlands in 1978, Pieter-Jelle de Boer holds advanced degrees in piano and organ from the Amsterdam Conservatoire, where he studied with Marcel Baudet and Pieter van Dijk. He was briefly a student of the late French organist Jean Boyer in Lyon, who made a profound impression on him. After finishing his instrumental studies, he was admitted to the conducting class of Zsolt Nagy at the Paris Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique, where he graduated with a Premier Prix in 2007. He received further tuition and coaching from outstanding musicians such as Jacques Rouvier, Murray Perahia, Emanuel Ax, Philippe Entremont and Peter Eötvös.
