Magister Goslenus episcopus Suessionis is the name attached in modern catalogues to two polyphonic items preserved in the Codex Calixtinus repertory for St James, including Gratulantes celebremus festum and an Alleluia (Vocavit Jesus Jacobum Zebedei), as indexed by DIAMM from the Santiago manuscript tradition. In modern reference usage this “Goslenus Suessionensis” is commonly identified with Joscelin/Jocelin of Soissons (d. 1152), bishop of Soissons; however, scholarship has also raised doubts about the reliability of some Codex Calixtinus composer ascriptions, so the name is best treated as a manuscript attribution that may not be authorially secure.
