Artist
Pierre de Blois (c.1135–c.1203), known in Latin as Petrus Blesensis, was a French cleric and one of the most prolific Latin writers of the twelfth century. Educated in France and Italy, he moved through the political and ecclesiastical centres of his day, serving English and continental patrons while producing an enormous body of letters, sermons, and moral prose. His Epistolae circulated widely in medieval manuscript culture and made him a model stylist for later generations; although not a composer, his learned Latin texts belong to the same intellectual world that shaped medieval chant, song, and liturgical performance.
