Artist
Melchor Robledo (born: c1520. died 22 November 1586) was an Aragonese composer. Some sources cite him as Maestro de capilla at Tarragona cathedral in 1549, and then he seems to have spent a period as a Papal singer in Rome. In 1566 he was back to the Tarragona cathedral until 1569, when he became maestro at the La Seo cathedral in Zaragoza, position he held until his death. His contemporary reputation was such that his was the only music allowed to be performed alongside that of Josquin, Victoria, Morales and Palestrina in the Pilar cathedral at Zaragoza. His masses, motets, lamentations and other sacred works survive in manuscript. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
