Artist
Johann Baptist Henneberg (1768–1822) was an Austrian composer, keyboard player, organist, and Kapellmeister active in Vienna’s theatrical and church music worlds. He is associated with Emanuel Schikaneder’s theatre scene, serving as Kapellmeister at the Theater auf der Wieden in the 1790s and later working at the Theater an der Wien; contemporary reference writing and modern summaries also connect him with the rehearsal and early run of Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte. Later in his career he is described as working in ecclesiastical and court-music posts, including service connected with the Esterházy court in Eisenstadt, and roles at Vienna’s Augustinian Church and the Hofmusikkapelle. Surviving items attributed to him in accessible score repositories include small vocal works such as a set of 2 Canons and a Tantum ergo setting.
