Around in some capacity since 1995, High Watt Electrocutions is essentially a project derived out of the desire to break the constraints of usual "verse chorus verse" structure in most modern music--albeit in a loud and fuzzy manner. With the project, main band member Ryan Electrocution also sought out to infuse a more spontaneous, jam oriented style that would merge some off the cuff performances, with the recording studio and studio effects as a blank canvas to mix sonic colors and hues, welded to gut level performances. Merged with a liberal dose of influence from such acts as Hawkwind, Black Sabbath, Spacemen 3, Spiritualized, Stooges, Godflesh and an occasional British shoegaze influence, there's varying degrees of modern and vintage psychedelia in the sound. Factor in the frequently near industrial, near robotic grind of some of the reliance on drum machines and loops and mechanical and musical repetition--and some drone/ doom fuzzed out metal--and it's a different kind of experience, altogether. Occasionally using a cinematic and textural approach to music, the music is based around mechanized paranoia, fuzz pedals, overdriven amps, mystical vocals and drone-y psychedelic headphone friendly atmospherics, using the album format to expand on the possibilities of sounds, sonics, textures and mood development.
