Giuseppe Palazzotto e Tagliavia [Palazotto Tagliavia, Pallazzotti, Palazzotti] (ca. 1587 -. after 1633) Palazzotto was an Sicilian composer, priest, doctor of divinity and archdeacon of Chephaleda. He was studying with Antonio Il Verso by 1603; the following year he was received into the Congregazione dell'Oratorio dei Filippini at Palermo. In 1617 he traveled to Naples with the court of the Duke of Osuna, then went to Palermo (1620) and Messina (1631). One of the finest madrigal composers of his time, Palazzotto was influenced by Gesualdo's chromaticism and Monteverdi's seconda prattica; published works include three books of madrigals (Naples, 1617; Palermo, 1620; Naples, 1632).
