Michelangelo Amadei (*11. Dec. 1586 in Cortona, †12. March 1642) was an Italian composer. In the preface dedicating his first book of motets to Filippo Bardi, Bishop of Cortona, he states that he was a student of G.B.Nanino (»etiam magis debeo praeceptori meo Io. However, he is not mentioned among the pueri of S. Luigi dei Francesi in Rome. On August 27, 1606, before he was twenty, he was called to the cathedral of his hometown. He retained the office of maestro di capella and a canon at the collegiate church of S. Maria Novella until his death.
