Domenico Zanatta (Venice, about 1665 - Verona, August 5, 1748) was an Italian composer and violinist. Domenico Zanatta according to the information on the title pages of the printed collections was born in Venice around 1665. In 1694 he was part of the guild of musicians as a violinist. In the same period he was hired in the musical chapel of Montagnana . Later he became choirmaster. From the numerous printed collections published in the period from 1689 to 1715, we can deduce the fame that the composer could have with the Venetian musical society. In 1709 he was commissioned to compose the music for the celebrations of the Coronation of the Madonna Lauretana which were held in the Church of San Nicolò (Verona) . For this occasion he composed the oratorio "Esther Coronata" on the libretto of Count Luigi Nogarola Maffei . Thanks to the success obtained, Zanatta was appointed chapel master of the Verona Philharmonic Academy for four terms 1719, 1723, 1725, 1731. In 1724 After the death of Bernardino Restelli , the chapter of Verona announced the competition for the role of choirmaster, following the resignation of the winner Don Girolamo Zanatta , son of Domenico.
