Aaron Hosek (Vocals and Guitar), Tom Miller (Keyboards), and Dave Lundeen (Bass) have formed the nucleus of Bullet Called Life and with the addition of Jake Abry on drums in 2007 they are poised to bring rock music out of the angst-driven and self-piteous Emo-Pop-rockery doldrums we hear today. Bullet Called Life has its origins in Oak Lawn, a working-class suburb of Chicago’s southwest side where the no non-sense attitude of their surroundings forged this group of high school friends into a hardworking rock-n-roll monster. These kids who grew up listening to Seattle grunge and the coastal hip-hop movements, traced these influences back to what had come before and discovered the grandiose power of British classic rock and the hard-driving rhythms of the Motown/Stax soul sound. They went even further back taking them full circle to the south-side of Chicago and the gritty origins of the electric blues. In the past years Bullet Called Life has transformed from some kids who like to play music, into four serious musicians who can write and play ridiculously great music. Although they are meticulous about their craft if you meet the guys in person and take their lyrics with a grain of salt you will find that they are still just kids who like to play and have probably watched one too many crime-noir movies. What you will also find at any of Bullet Called Life’s live shows or on their recordings is an energetic interpretation of the music that they love and is relevant to today.
