about

Feltham, United Kingdom-based R&B act The Trendbender Band evolved briefly into The Short Stop Band and then Barney J. Barnes & The Intro for a lone single on Decca in 1967: 'It Must Be Love' b/w 'Can't Stand The Pain'. The band members were upset when music director Arthur Greenskade replaced The Intro with session men for the recordings, leaving only vocalist Barnes from the band on their only 45. The group got to mime 'It Must Be Love' at London's Speakeasy Club for a Pathé promo film called 'Swinging London'. The group's organist, Peter Wood, later co-wrote Al Stewart's smash hit, 'Year of the Cat'. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
