Artist
(2005 -) Barkley Blazer is a progressive indie band from Somerset West, South Africa from that started late 2005 until early 2007, until they took a hiatus, but are currently back in action [29 October 2009]. The band played throuhgout the Somerset West and Stellenbosch districts, but had a devoted following in the area. They have travelled to Durban, but not yet further to play. Members included Cris Robertson on guitar and vocals, Jonathan Ueckermann on bass and vocals, and Paul Melis on drums and vocals. James Acker might be joining the band soon. The trio's music has a distinctive upbeat and punk-influenced sound with a progressive edge, and is often equal parts energetic and anthemic. Barkley Blazer have released only two recordings - a four-track demo in 2005 and a seven-track EP entitled "Let's Impact Them With Our Intimacy" in 2007. The band stopped playing shows for most of 2007, but played again later the same year featuring James Regout of The Lottery Tickets on drums in Duban at Splashy Fen music festival, due to Paul temporarily leaving the band to focus on his new project, Yes Sir! Mister Machine. However, the original band have decided to continue their love affair with music and live performances. Updates to come...
