It all started back in january of 2002, when Matthias, who had just moved to London, and Marco, held what they called "jam sessions" (or for the Germans: "Fetzen") in Marco's garage. As their musical abilities were limited, they merely managed to cover bands such as Blink 182 and Nirvana. They didn't have a fixed line-up, so they invited "friends & family" to play with them. The basis for the future was set when Luca and Paul joined the band in 2003. The four of them started to write their first songs, which, rather unfortunately, got lost on the way... After a further period of covering other songs and messing around without any plans or goals, they had the brilliant idea of completing their line-up with someone who could actually sing... Enter Olga Condry. They had their first gigs in the summer of 2004, after which all of them were convinced that the ideal set-up for a band project had been found. With a line-up and newly fueled ambitions, all they needed were a name and some songs. Former Bandnames had included "M&Ms" and "Out Of Order", but the bandmembers felt that their new name should represent their passion for music as well as their witty, yet intellectual humor. "Barefoot Pilgrim" was an obvious choice. After the summer holidays of 2004, the band finally had managed to write some original material, but an injury put the band on hold.
