Artist
Aidan & The Wild is the moniker of Eindhoven, The Netherlands-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Diederik van den Brandt. Influenced by artists such as Ben Howard, John Butler, John Smith and The Tallest Man On Earth, Van den Brandt's musical tastes and profound love for ancient myths and stories about lost times come together in Aidan & the Wild's music, taking his listeners along on a musical journey through his interpretation of folk and americana music. Following a string of singles, EPs and cassette releases since 2015, Aidan & The Wild's début LP, Revelation Never Came, finally saw the light of day in October 2021. # On Aidan & the Wild This project merits attention for how thoughtfully it weaves folklore into contemporary folk-americana. Van den Brandt's multi-instrumental approach creates intimate soundscapes that echo artists like Ben Howard and John Butler, yet the album's distinctive character emerges from its philosophical depth—each composition appears informed by genuine engagement with mythology and historical narratives. Rather than treating these themes decoratively, the music uses them as genuine frameworks for exploration, inviting listeners into contemplative spaces where storytelling and instrumentation function as equal partners. The result feels neither nostalgic nor academic, but genuinely curious about what old narratives might reveal to contemporary ears.
