There are at least three artists with this name: 1.) James Walker is an English singer/songwriter from Reading. Originally a session musician, he performed as a piano player for a number of touring artists, spending six years playing smokey cafés, obscure European festivals and at small venues all over the continent. After an unexpected illness, he fought a year-long battle with a rare heart condition, culminating in major surgery & rehabilitation. It changed the perspective he had on life; he realised that he wanted to tell stories of his own, and further understand the world that surrounds him. With a determination to explore the depth of impact these events had on him, and with a desire to resonate with others’ emotions, James moved to a new city and started writing his own material. Inspired by artists such as Conor Oberst, The Weepies and Damien Rice, but drawing on influences by emo/post-rock bands like Foxing, Pavement & Tigers Jaw, Walker penned his debut EP. Using the network of contacts, friends and peers he’d made as a session musician, he booked an extensive year of shows across Europe and the USA to support the release & to perform to his first audiences. They were a great success, and enabled James to make friends with some artists who he’ll be performing with later in the year, Dutch singer/songwriter Judy Blank & American artist Matt Phillips. James Walker has just finished tracking his debut full-length, English Bones, with Sam Winfield at Studio 91 (Amb
