War Party is the ninth studio album by the American heavy metal band GWAR. Released on October 26, 2004, through DRT Entertainment, the album marked a return to the band's thrash metal roots while maintaining their signature satirical and over-the-top style. War Party showcased GWAR's continued ability to deliver aggressive and humorous music, incorporating elements of punk, hardcore, and shock rock. The album received positive reviews from critics and remains a favorite among GWAR fans. Following the release of their previous album, Violence Has Arrived, GWAR embarked on extensive touring, further solidifying their reputation as a formidable live act. The band entered the studio in 2004 to work on their next release. War Party was recorded at the Sound of Music Studios in Richmond, Virginia, and was produced by Cory Smoot and GWAR's lead vocalist, Oderus Urungus (Dave Brockie). The album featured the lineup of Oderus Urungus, guitarist Balsac the Jaws of Death (Mike Derks), bassist Beefcake the Mighty (Casey Orr), drummer Jizmak Da Gusha (Brad Roberts), and new guitarist Flattus Maximus (Cory Smoot, who joined the band in 2002). War Party marked a return to GWAR's thrash metal roots, delivering fast-paced and aggressive music.
