LIFE ON A WIRE album was released in 1987 and is the first offering from BEATS WORKING (originally recorded as a song demo album by the band). Formed in 1986 by guitarist and vocalist John Hardman with Chris Glover (drums), Andy Finlay (bass) & Dave Rea (guitar) the album contained popular live tracks such as Need To Cry (re-recorded several times over time and last appearing on the Calm album of 2001) and a version of the song 'All For Love' produced by Gus Dudgeon. Artwork on this album was by the (now better known) Ivan Berryman. All other subsequent artwork on Beats Working albums has been produced exclusively by Tristan Greatrex.
