"Yours" uses the soft “whisper register” which is used frequently on Charmbracelet in addition to belts and whistles. Justin Timberlake also recorded vocals for "Yours" which were planned to be part of the song’s remix. The version with his vocals has never been released. Jimmy Jam, one of the song’s producers stated “If I were to compare it to something we have done with her in the past, it would be ‘Thank God I Found You,’ but I think ‘Yours’ blows it away,” adding “It is probably one of the best hooks [ever].
