The lyrics spin a narrative told in the first person with alternating narrators (Em' and Royce). Each narrator begins by telling a separate story, although both stories are occurring simultaneously. Towards the end of the final verse, the two separate narratives merge together. This is very similar to the cinematic technique of using a split screen to show two different characters in different places. Eventually, the two meet up and the split is removed to show both characters in the same scene.
