The instrumental middle section of "The Nomad" has often been noted by listeners to resemble parts of "Life’s Shadow", a song by the British progressive rock band Beckett from their only album, released in 1974. The similarity has been discussed among fans, although it has never been officially confirmed by Iron Maiden. Beckett’s music is known to have influenced Iron Maiden bassist Steve Harris. Lines from "Life’s Shadow" were later acknowledged to have been used in Iron Maiden’s song "Hallowed Be Thy Name"
