"Northern Star" is the title track from Melanie C debut solo album and it was released as the second single in the winter of 1999; it was written by Melanie C and Rick Nowels and produced by Marius De Vries. The song received positive reception from music critics. The single sold over 200,000 copies in the U.K., and over 500,000 copies worldwide. It also charted at number 4 in the UK Singles Chart and reached the top 10 in Italy and Sweden.
