“grave” sees McRae realizing that trying to change a person to fix a relationship doesn’t always work. It encapsulates the emotional rollercoaster of realizing the end of a relationship, capturing the complexity of emotions and the struggle endured when having to let go of a connection that has reached its final resting place. The track was first teased at the end of the “exes” music video and made its live debut on Saturday Night Live the next day on November 18, 2023.
