"Fear of the Dark" is a song by Iron Maiden, written by Steve Harris, the band's bassist and primary songwriter. It is the title track and closing song on Iron Maiden's 1992 album "Fear of the Dark". A live version from "Flight 666" was later released as downloadable content for the "Rock Band" video game series on 9 June 2009. The lyrics depict a man who experiences intense fear when in the dark, recalling moments when he has walked alone and felt as if he were being followed at night.
