"Every Breath You Take" is a song written by Sting and originally performed by The Police. It was released on their 1983 album Synchronicity. The song is about stalking yet a lot of people think of it as a love song. Sting insists it is about the obsession with a lost lover, and the jealousy and surveillance that follow. He said “I think the song is very, very sinister and ugly and people have actually misinterpreted it as being a gentle little love song, when it’s quite the opposite.
